Police launched a manhunt for two men suspected of robbing at gunpoint, the Williamsburg First National bank in Hemingway. According to Hemingway Police Chief Bryan Todd, on the morning of June 17, the masked black suspects stormed the bank while brandishing handguns and demanded money. No one was harmed but the men escaped on foot and were seen running toward the railroad tracks located behind the bank.

Highway Patrol, State Law Enforcement Division and the S.C. Department of Natural Resources assisted the Hemingway Police. Investigators seized a full size red Chevrolet sport utility vehicle with a Manning dealer tag that may have been used in the robbery.
