ARTHUR GILMAN, JR., GEORGETOWN

Arthur Prescott Gilman, Jr., 84, died Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Funeral services, conducted by the Rt. Rev. Charles Murphy, were held Monday, March 18, 2013, at All Saint’s Church in Pawleys Island. Burial, directed by Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home, took place at All Saint’s Cemetery. Mr. Gilman was born May 14, 1928, in Boston, Massachusetts, a son of the late Arthur Prescott Gilman, Sr. and Josephine Fraser Mackenzie Gilman. He graduated from Rutgers University and served in Korea in the US Army during World War II. He was retired from Rigby Electric. He was a member of All Saints Church and more recently attended Mission Pawleys. He was married to the late Catherine W. Gilman. A sister, Roberta Meader, preceded him in death. Survivors are: his wife, Nancy Taylor Gilman of Georgetown; two daughters, Gayle Mone (Bob) of West Tisbury, Massachusetts; and Diane Boyd (Alton) of Kingstree; one brother, Roderick Gilman (Carol); his mother-in-law, Marguerite Boyd Taylor; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Memorials are suggested to a church or charity of one’s choice.
