Funeral services for Andrew “Nathan” Harden, conducted by the Rev. Elder B. Holmes, were held Saturday, October 13, 2012, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Lane. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Greenlawn Cemetery of Kingstree. Mr. Harden, 70, died Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at his residence in Lane. He was born September 28, 1942, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Deacon Alex Harden and Sister Louise E. Harden. Two brothers, Robert Harden and Nathaniel Harden, and one sister, Rose Lee Harden-Chisolm, preceded him in death. He was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg County. While residing in New York, he was a member of Saint Anthony Baptist Church of Brooklyn, New York, while there he served on the Usher Board. He worked for the Premier House, Inc. for 35 years, and he held the position of superintendent for 20 years. Upon returning home, he became a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a member of the male chorus. Survivors are: his wife, Evangelist Mary E. Myers-Harden of the home; three sons, Pastor Gregory Myers (Denise) of Georgetown; Anthony Harden (Alesha) and Rodney Harden (Dianne), both of Brooklyn, New York; one daughter, Evangelist Wanda Johnson of Brooklyn, New York; one sister, Brenda Harden of Columbia; one brother, Deacon Walter “Andy” Harden of Lilesville, Maryland; one adopted sister, Nora L. Benbow of Manning; one surrogate brother, Marshall Gordon of Kingstree; his Godmother, Ethel Gordon of Lane; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
