A man has died after hitting the back of an empty log truck. According to Williamsburg County Assistant Coroner William Horton, Joseph James, 49, of Hemingway died at the scene.

The collision occurred Monday morning around 6:25 a.m. on Highway 41/51. Lance Corporal Sonny Collins of the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the 2016 pickup truck James was driving was traveling south on the highway when he hit the rear of an empty log truck that was also traveling south. James was not wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the log truck was not injured. Collins said no charges have been filed in reference to the collision.
