MARTHA TISDALE - SALTERS
Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Luvine Smith Tisdale, conducted by the Rev. Samuel L. Davis, were held Saturday, May 31, 2008 at St. Mary AME Church in Salters. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at St. Mary AME Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Tisdale died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at her residence. She was born July 26, 1916 in Salters, a daughter of the late Willie Smith and Charlotte Swinton Smith Davis. She was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg County, at St. Lawrence School. She was a member of St. Mary AME Church, where she was a Stewardess, Trustee, Assistant Class Leader and choir member. She was a member of Providence #249, Order of the Eastern Star. She was married to the late Jeffery Gervie Tisdale. She was preceded in death by three children, Mary Tisdale, Helen Tisdale and Carrie T. McClary.
Survivors are: six children, William “Bozo” Tisdale (Diane) of Salters; Martha Tisdale of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Gert Tisdale-Gaiter (Rolston) of Princeton Junction, New Jersey; Rubye Tisdale-Todman (Clarence) of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; Rose Patricia A. Tisdale of Salters; and Patrick E.C. Tisdale (Libby) of Summerville; two sisters, Remelle Davis McCray of Detroit, Michigan; and Mary Jane Davis of Salters; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
LENORA ALSBROOK - JEMEZ SPRINGS, NM
Lenora Yarborough Alsbrook, 55, wife of Lynn Coleman Alsbrook, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008 in Los Alamos Medical Center.
Funeral services, conducted by the Revs. John A. Christmas and Lamar Christmas, were held Sunday, June 8, 2008 in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home. Burial, directed by Stephens Funeral Home and Crematory, followed at Jordon United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Born September 25, 1952 in Kingstree, she was a daughter of R.L. Yarborough of Nesmith and Vera Christmas Yarborough of Rio Rancho, NM. She was former protocol officer for the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, are: one son, Lamar Coleman “Cole” Alsbrook (Alma) of Jemez Springs, New Mexico; one sister, Marilyn Yarborough Gurule of Jemez Springs, New Mexico; one brother, the Rev. Roland Yarborough of Douglasville, Georgia; and one grandson.
