Playoffs, here come the Kingstree High School and Williamsburg Academy football teams.

The Kingstree Blazers ended a string of 14 consecutive losing seasons Friday with a 36-8 victory over visiting Lee Central.

The Williamsburg Academy Stallions capped an undefeated regular season Friday at home with a 49-0 victory over The Carolina Academy.

The Blazers improved their record to 5-5 (2-2 in Region 8-2A) and will play at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Timberland in the Class 2A playoffs.

Kingstree hasn’t been in the playoffs since 2018, when it reached the postseason with a 3-7 regular-season record. The Blazers most recently didn’t have a losing season was 2008, but they didn’t make the playoffs that year.

The Stallions improved its record to 10-0 (2-0 SCISA 2-2A) and will host Thomas Sumter at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the SCISA Class 2A playoffs.

Kingstree's Nicholas Brown scored three touchdowns. Teammate Amond Myers added two.

The Blazers are in their first season after Kingstree and C.E. Murray high schools merged this year. First-year Coach Brian Smith led C.E. Murray to the Lower State Championship game last year.

Williamsburg Academy's Conrad Balder passed for three touchdowns and ran for one touchdown. Teague Ward caught two touchdown passes and Matt Brown returned a fumble 97 yards for a touchdown.
