Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting at 1832 Cow Head Road in Hemingway on Saturday, March 23. When deputies arrived, they found three people who had been shot while attending a family gathering. Two victims were transported to the hospital. Vantrell Hanna, 20, of Hemingway, died on the scene. The suspect fled the scene before deputies arrived. No motive is known at this time.

Kingstree Police Department, Hemingway Police Department, Florence County Sheriff’s Office, Johnsonville Police Department, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, and South Carolina Highway Patrol assisted on scene to restore order to the crowd.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is working with the Sheriff’s Office to investigate the shooting.
