Kingstree man arrested on drug charges, alcohol license violation

A Williamsburg County man is facing multiple drug offenses and a charge of selling beer or wine without a license, according to a Aug. 22 news release from South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

Teridal Deshon Burgess, 43, of Kingstree was arrested Aug. 18 in connection with charges of possession of cocaine first offense, possession with intent to distribute drugs near a school and failure to secure a required beer or wine sale permit.

According to the warrant, Burgess was operating a business on Aug. 16 that did not possess a valid alcohol license from the state when he sold alcoholic beverages to a confidential informant.

On Aug. 17, officer searched Burgess’ residence on Charles Avenue and found approximately 3.88 grams of cocaine, according to the warrant. Charles Avenue is near W.M. Anderson Primary School, which resulted in an additional charge.

SLED’s Alcohol Enforcement Unit was requested by the Kingstree Police Department.

Burgess was booked into the Williamsburg County Detention Center.

The case will be prosecuted by the 3rd Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
