Traffic Checkpoints

The Lane, Greeleyville, and Kingstree Police Departments and the Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints during the month of April. A.A. Meetings

Seniors Patrol

The Kingstree Police Department is offering a seniors patrol wellness check. Any elderly, ill or bedridden residents of the Town of Kingstree who would like for the police department to contact them on a regular basis should call Police Chaplain the Rev. Harold Jackson. He can be reached at (843) 355-5435.

Volunteers Needed

Seniors and disabled adults in your community are homebound and need your help getting to doctor’s appointments, grocery stores, social activities, religious services, and more.

Help them live with the quality of life they deserve at a time when they need it most. You can make a difference!

AA Meetings

The Town of Lane Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings will be on Fridays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Lane Community Center. If you think you have a drinking problem there is help without judgment.

Volunteers Needed

St. Mark Bloomingvale CDC, Inc. needs you to help operate the local community foodbank every second and fourth Thursday of the month at 10 a.m. The organization is located at 8292 Thurgood Marshall Hwy. (Bloomingvale Community Center).

Addiction Treatment

Williamsburg County Behavioral Health provided by Circle Park is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Chavis Complex located at 2811 S. State Highway 41-51 in Hemingway. Services offered include medication assisted treatment, individual and group counseling, ADSAP for loss of driver’s license, family and adolescent counseling and peer support recovery services. Free Program

Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) is a free health and nutrition program. Each week you will cook and taste healthy foods, save money at the grocers, learn about food safety, and get active.

Monthly Meeting

Donnelly Community Revitalization Group’s monthly meetings are held on the last Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Chavis One-Stop Complex, 2811 South State Highway 41-51, Hemingway.

AARP Meeting

Williamsburg County Chapter #5360 AARP will begin holding their regular monthly meetings on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 12 p.m. at the Williamsburg County Recreation Department, 2084 Thurgood Marshall Hwy., Kingstree. If you are a member of the National AARP Organization, and are 50 years old and older, you are invited to please come join the local chapter, here in Kingstree.

Concert

On Thursday, May 16, The Synergy Twins will be in concert at 7:30 p.m. at the Moore Farms. Twin brothers, Stephen and Jeff Neil, bring equal parts of energy and talent. They have been electrifying audiences with their pioneering style of classical crossover violin movement since 2013. This concert with two of the Lake City Concert Series favorite performers in the beautiful garden setting will be the highlight of their 40th anniversary celebration. There will be a reception southern dinner with tea and lemonade at 6:30 p.m.

Book Sale

Williamsburg County Friends of the Library will have a book sale on April 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Meeting Room of the library, gently used books for children and adults. Great opportunity to buy some great books at reduced prices. Mark your calendars and join the Friends as they support our library with the many programs that are offered to their patrons (little ones through adults).

Poetry Reading

Williamsburg County Friends of the Library will host a Poetry Reading in celebration of ‘April is National Poetry Month’ on April 26, at 3 p.m. Several local poets will be sharing their poetry at the library. If you would like to participate, please contact Mrs. Ginger Mouzon at (843) 355-9486. You do not have to be published to share your own written poetry or poetry that you love by other poets.

Please join us as we support them in their literary endeavors. There is no charge and the public is invited to attend.
