Man found shot to death on Rhems Road in Nesmith

The Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office say Leroy Barnes, age 75, of 75 Van Vlake Drive, in Georgetown was found shot to death in Nesmith. According to a press release, on May 19, at approximately 3:09 p.m. Williamsburg County Deputies responded to Rhems Road located in the Nesmith area of Williamsburg County to the report of a body lying in the roadway. Deputies discovered a deceased male victim lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound to the head area. The victim has been sent to MUSC for an autopsy. This case is being investigated by Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office and Williamsburg Coroner’s Office. The investigation into this matter is ongoing.
