Robert Samuel, St.Stephen - Funeral services for Robert Lee “Rob” Samuel, conducted by the Rev. Fortune C. Haskell, were held Monday, August 25, 2014, at New Covenant Baptist Church of St. Stephen. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Tri Churches Cemetery of St. Stephen. Mr. Samuel died Tuesday, August 19, 2014. He was born July 6,1948, the son of the late Nathan and Mary Middleton. A brother, Jerome Middleton, preceded him in death. He graduated from Russellville High School and then joined the United States Army. Before he was honorably discharged, he served two tours in Vietnam. He then became a correctional officer in the New York State Prison System. In the early 2000s, he returned to South Carolina. Survivors are: two daughters, Robin Hamilton (Damen) and Shania Samuel; three siblings, Bertha Samuel, Louis Middleton and Michael Middleton (Joann); his companion, Frankie Curry; his Goddaughter, Dann-L Brown (Terrique); and three granddaughters. Pallbearers were Samuel Gaillard, Johnny Middleton, Jr., Leon Bradshaw, Jared Hamilton, John Scott, and Archie Darby.
