Kenneth Gardner Elementary is “reeling” in the new school year with the “Lights, Camera, Lead” theme. Students were met on their first day of school with awesome “LEAD” teachers welcoming them to school. It was a “red carpet” experience, for sure! Each year, a school wide leadership theme is chosen by the staff.
The “Lights, Camera, Lead” theme is like a thread that connects learning and leadership throughout the school all year long. Each grade level takes part in developing the theme. Third grade has transformed their classrooms into a “stage” for learning. Fourth grade puts the “spotlight” on student leaders, while fifth grade has an entire “cast” [fifth grade students] of “red carpet leaders.”The new theme has brought much excitement around school. When asking students what the theme, “Lights, Camera, Lead” meant to them, third grader, Samia Dukes, commented, “When the spotlight is on me, I have a chance to shine!”The “action” has begun! Students will gain leadership skills, create new friendships, and show superior leadership and academic achievement while here at Kenneth Gardner Elementary School.
