Peggy Clarke, Kingstree - Peggy Singletary “Lovely Ann (L.V.)” Clarke, formerly of Kingstree, 88, died Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at the Rutland Nursing Home of Brooklyn, New York. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Franklin D. James and the Rev. Dr. Henrietta Fullard, were held Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at St. Michael United Methodist Church of Kingstree. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Singletary Cemetery of Kingstree. Mrs. Clark was born September 13, 1925, the daughter of the late Minnie and Ben Singletary. She was a member of St. Michael United Methodist Church of Kingstree. She was educated in Williamsburg County School System and was a graduate of Claflin College of Orangeburg, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in teaching. She taught in the school systems of South Carolina and New York City. She also served as a real estate advisor and counselor for her family as they transitioned from the south. She was married to Willie Clarke. Ten siblings, Elijah, Sr., Ben, Jr. (Buddie), the Rev. Peter Singletary, Hessie Wall, Oliese James, Cholie Rock, Amelia Witherspoon, Janie Scott, Isabelle Fleming, and Virginia Scott, preceded her in death.
Survivors are: one brother-in-law and 19 nieces and nephews.
