Dwayne Brown has turned himself into law enforcement after being sought by South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office in connection to a shooting in Kingstree. Dwayne Brown, 32, of Myrtle Beach has been charged with various crimes that include attempted murder, unlawful carry of a firearm, possession of a weapon by an unlawful person (felon), DUI 2nd, DUI 1st and resisting arrest with deadly violence.
According to a Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Incident Report, around 2 a.m. on Saturday morning, a South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper had initiated a traffic stop on a 1996 Toyota Camry at a business on Thorne Avenue in Kingstree. While conducting the traffic stop the trooper requested the driver to exit the vehicle.
The report states when the trooper attempted to place the driver under arrest an altercation ensued between the two men. The driver, later identified as Dwayne Brown, presented a firearm and discharged one round towards the trooper. Brown then fled the scene on foot.
A SC identification card, along with a small caliber handgun, t-shirt, and cigarette lighter were found in the vicinity of the assault.
