Geneva Johnson, Kingstree - Funeral services for Mrs. Geneva (Lil) Johnson, conducted by the Rev. Larry McCray, were held Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Elijah United Methodist Church of Kingstree. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Elijah United Methodist Church Cemetery of Kingstree.
Mrs. Johnson died Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at the Kingstree Nursing Facility of Kingstree. She was born May 8, 1918, the daughter of the late Ben Washington and Peggy Pressley Washington. She received her education in the public schools of Williamsburg County.?She was a member of Elijah United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Senior Choir, Sunday School Teacher, member of the United Methodist Women and worked as custodian of the church for a period of time. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Lodge #269. She was married to the late Willie James Johnson. Ten siblings preceded her in death.
Survivors are: three sons, Benny Johnson (Janie) of Florence; Willie James Johnson (Pauline) of Monroe, North Carolina; and Franklin Theodore Johnson (Darlene) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one sister, Alberta Warren (Joe) of Kingstree; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
