Cades Christopher Gadsden “Chris” Carsten, Jr., Florence

Christopher Carsten, Jr., Cades Christopher Gadsden “Chris” Carsten, Jr., 72, husband of Jayne Deal Carsten, died Sunday, July 27, 2014, at McLeod Hospice House of Florence.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at Cades United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at Sauls Carsten Cemetery.

Mr. Carsten was born May 13, 1942, in Kingstree, the son of the late C.G. Carsten, Sr. and Martha Arnette Carsten. He was a graduate of Kingstree High School, attended North Greenville College, and graduated from NC State with a degree in Agriculture. He always loved the land and his life as a farmer. He was a member of Cades United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joy Allen Carsten.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Jayne, of Cades, are: two sons, Dr. Christopher Carsten (Angie) of Greenville; and Will Carsten (Mayme) of Cades; one daughter, Kay Carsten Thomas (Stuart) of Westerville, Ohio; two sisters, Bobby Jean Osmer (Tommy) of Lexington; and his twin, Cynthia McMillan (Ross) of Allendale; and 11 grandchildren.
