Funeral services for Pastor Rev. William McClary, conducted by the Rev. Heraclio John Wyatt, Sr. and Evangelist Leroy Epps, were held Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Apostolic Faith Holiness Church of Kingstree. Burial, directed by Pressley’s Funeral Home, followed at Greenlawn Cemetery of Kingstree.
The Rev. McClary died Thursday, June 26, 2014. He was born September 30, 1931, the son of the late Rev. Melvin Lee McClary and Emma Flagler-McClary. He was educated in the Williamsburg County School System. After formal education, he moved to Washington, DC where he was employed as a plasterer. He returned to Kingstree, where he acquired employment at Baxter’s Laboratories. He was married to the late Ruth Naomi White. Two children, William R. McClary and Annie M. Glover, preceded him in death. A nephew, Louis McClary, who was raised in the home as one of his own, preceded him in death. He was ordained into ministry in the Apostolic Faith Church in 1965. He served as youth leader, assistant pastor, and as pastor for 28 years culminating 62 years of service.
Survivors are: one son, Lt. Col (ret) Ricky J. McClary (Brenda) of Woodbridge, Virginia; one daughter, Dr. Phyllis M. Cunningham of Charlotte, North Carolina; one sister, Lirlease Gamble of Kingstree; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
