William Dorman “Bill” and “Billy” Pridgen, 82, died Friday, July 11, 2014.

Services were held Sunday, July 13, 2014, at Williamsburg Presbyterian Church of Kingstree, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home.

Mr. Pridgen was born in Little River in 1932, the son of the late Robert Wilson and Isabel Stone Pridgen of Kingstree. He graduated from Kingstree High School and the University of South Carolina Law School. He grew up in Kingstree and played baseball for USC. He was married to the late Mitsie Welch Pridgen. Later, he married his college sweetheart, Ann Gilchrist Whitmire. After graduating from law school in 1955, he joined the Air Force. He trained in Texas, served in South Korea and had further assignments in Japan and the Philippines. He completed his service in 1957 as a 2nd Lieutenant and returned to South Carolina. His civilian career included banking, teaching and many years practicing law. He enjoyed criminal defense work and was a proud member of the bar until his death. A sister, Bobbie Pridgen Harley, preceded him in death.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Ann, are: one son, Will Pridgen (Marla) of Rocky Face, Georgia; one daughter, Dargan Easler (Marty) of Greeleyville; one brother, Robert Wilson (Sonny) Pridgen, Jr. (Margaret) of Salem; and eight grandchildren.
