Funeral services for Sarah Lee White, conducted by the Rev. Moses Rollerson and the Rev. Alford Addison, were held Saturday, June 28, 2014, at St. Michael R. E. Church of St. Stephen. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Old Field Cemetery?of St. Stephen.
Ms. White died Sunday, June 22, 2014, in Moncks Corner. She was born March 17, 1942, in the Old Field Section of St. Stephen, the daughter of the late Johnny Dingle and Louise Addison Dingle Edwards. She received her education in the public schools of Berkeley County and graduated from St. Stephen High School in 1960. She furthered her education at St. Anna Catholic School in Jersey City, New Jersey. She was employed with Hudson County School District as a truancy officer. She held numerous clerical jobs in New Jersey until she relocated back to St. Stephen in 1977 and enlisted in the National Guard. She served her country for four years. Later in life, she worked with Berkeley County School District in the cafeteria. Two sons, Robert L. White and Marvin D. Washington, one sister, Ruth McBride, and one brother, Joseph Dingle, preceded her in death. Survivors are: two children, Jeffery Dingle White (Pat) of Moncks Corner; and Vincent White (Celest) of Jersey City, New Jersey; one sister, Vernell Davis (Sylvester) of St. Stephen; three brothers, Oliver Dingle (Carol) and Edward Dingle, both of Columbia; and Herman Dingle of Ladson; seven grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren.
