Sylvia Britton, Greeleyville - Sylvia Francelia Carraway Epps Britton, 82, widow of the late James Clinton Britton, Jr., died Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital. A graveside service, conducted the Rev. Dr. Dale Roach and the Rev. Dr. Robert Lewis Alderman, was held Saturday, June 21, 2014, at New Market Cemetery in Greeleyville, directed by Stephens Funeral Home & Crematory of Manning. Born May 18, 1932, in Olanta, she was the daughter of the late Johnson Hagood Carraway and Vera Moore Carraway Crosby. She graduated from Edmunds High School in 1950, retired from USDA (ASCS) office as county executive director in 1987. She was a member of Manning First Baptist Church and the Homemakers Sunday school class. Her first husband, Leroy Snyder Epps, Jr. and 13 siblings, preceded her in death. Survivors are: one daughter, Marian Epps Norris (Tony) of Greeleyville; three stepsons, Roy Epps, III, David Epps (Joyce) and James Clinton Britton, III; three stepdaughters, Debbie Ipock (David), Jane Patrick Britton (Friedrich “Fritz” Hamer) and Kim Britton Belangia (Steve); four grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one step-great-granddaughter.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
