Sallie Blakely, Lake City - Funeral services for Mrs. Sallie Mae “Cuta” Blakely, conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Brockington, were held Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Marion Missionary Baptist Church of Salters. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Marion Memorial Gardens of Salters. Mrs. Blakely died Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Ronald E. McNair Rehabilitation Nursing Center of Lake City. She was born January 6, 1920, in Salters, the daughter of the late Phillip and Emma Garfield Burrows. She received her formal education in the public schools of Williamsburg County. She was a member of Marion Baptist Church where she served on the Senior Choir. She was employed by Kingstree Cleaners and later retired from Oneita Knitting Mills in Lane. She was also a farmer and a member of Farmers Aide. She was married to the late Daniel Blakely, Sr. A sister, Mrs. Everlener “Flower” Blake, preceded her in death.
Survivors are: one daughter, Betty L. Washington of Lake City; one son, Daniel L. Blakely, Jr. (Joan) of Salters; one sister, Betty “Sissy” Montgomery of Washington, DC; one who was reared like a sister, Carrie Widows of Kingstree; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Daniel Blakely, Jr., Daniel Blakely, III, James Lewis Washington,
O’Neal Blake, Tyric Williams, and Sylvester Washington.
