Matthew Gourdine, St. Stephen - Funeral services for Matthew “Matt” Gourdine, conducted by the Rev. Robert G. McCutchen, Jr., were held Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Alvin Community Center of Alvin. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Peru Cemetery? of St. Stephen. Mr. Gourdine died Friday, June 6, 2014. He was born January 25, 1993, in St. Stephen, the son of Willie Gourdine, Sr. and Marian L. Gourdine. He received his education from Berkeley County Schools and graduated from South Carolina Youth Challenge. He was dedicated back to God in the Garden of Prayer Church in St. Stephen. He grew up in the Household of Faith Church in Pineville and the Household of Faith Church. He enjoyed attending the conference center in Camden for special events. Two brothers, Zackariah, and Gregory Gourdine, preceded him in death. Survivors are: his father, Willie Gourdine, Sr. (Brimage); his mother, Marian L. Shaw; four brothers, Willie Gourdine, Jr. (Renee) and Hezikiah Gourdine, both of St. Stephen; David Gourdine of Jacksonville, Florida; and Samuel L. Gourdine of Kansas City, Missouri; and seven sisters, Geraldine Sepulvada, Evelyn Lyons Gourdine (Gregory), Rebecca G. Green, Elizabeth S. Gourdine and Zaneta V. Gourdine, all of St. Stephen; Nakia D. Gourdine Ford (Monte) of Sumter; and Mary Gourdine of Baltimore, Maryland.
Pallbearers were Willie Gourdine, Jr., David Gourdine, Isaiah Sepulveda, Hezekiah Gourdine, Samuel Gourdine, and Lamont Ford.
