I am writing this for multiple purposes. First, I would like to commend Mr. Robert McClary for his work and dedication to the local veterans. His efforts resulted in a wonderful event on Memorial Day as we remembered those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country and her citizens.
The second reason for writing is to encourage all veterans to consider participating in this event. Our county has 2,644 veterans among her residents, it would be a much more meaningful experience if we all came together to pay our respects to our fallen brothers and sisters. Asking for one hour of your time on one day a year should not be an imposition, it should be considered exactly what the day is meant to do-pay respect. Our country’s history is replete with the sacrifices of thousands upon thousands of our ancestors, relatives and friends who decided our country was worth their devotion and dedication.
Mr. McClary is already preparing for next year and has proposed a parade to highlight the occasion. This is a wonderful idea if more veterans will attend.
He has a great attitude, whatever it takes to rally the veterans to a day set aside to remember the sacrifices of our brothers and sisters, deserves our participation.
So set aside your other plans and join us on Memorial Day next year. You will not be disappointed.
