Local races were super close with voter turnout hovering around 28 percent.

Williamsburg County Supervisor Stanley Pasley eased by challenger Ted Brown by 150 votes - with a total 2926 votes to Brown's 2776 votes. In a telephone interview Brown congratulated Pasley but was clearly unhappy with the voters. "We are thankful for our voters and we congratulate him (Pasley). We are convinced that the people in Williamsburg County wants to live in poor conditions," said Brown. "The voters have spoken and they said they liked their poor conditions." Brown added that God told him what to do and "we did that and we're going to be fine."

Two County Council seats were up. District 2 incumbent W.B. Wilson beat JJ Dukes 551 votes to 536 votes and District 7 incumbent Franklin Fulmore edged out challenger Sulondia Sue-Hammond 461 votes to 395 votes.

Provisional ballots will be counted Thursday.
