Doris Giles, Kingstree - Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Janetta Flagler Wilson Giles, conducted by the Rev. James C. Lane, were held Friday, May 23, 2014, at St. Paul United Methodist Church of Kingstree. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Crossroad Cemetery of Kingstree.
Mrs. Giles died Monday, May 19, 2014, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. She was born December 25, 1946, in Kingstree, the daughter of the late Robert and Annie Flagler. She was a graduate of St. Mark High School and also received her diploma in floral design from Florence-Darlington Technical College. She retired from Baxter-Travenol, and was also a private duty nurse. She was married to the late Rev. Julius Wilson, Sr. She was also married to the Rev. Colen Giles. Two siblings, Mrs. Mary Flagler-Dukes and Master Matthew Flagler, preceded her in death. Survivors are: one daughter, Nicoya T. Wilson of Kingstree; two sons, Patrick Wilson (Mary) and Julius Wilson, II, both of Kingstree; two sisters, Essie M. Cooper of Salters; and Willie Mae Flagler of Kingstree; one brother, Sylvester Flagler (Lula) of Durham, North Carolina; one special niece she referred to as her ‘guardian angel’ Caitlin Shaw of Kingstree; her godmother, Mrs. Dorotha McClary of Kingstree; six grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
