Seniors Patrol -The Kingstree Police Department is offering a seniors patrol wellness check.† Any elderly, ill or bedridden residents of the Town of Kingstree who would like for the police department to contact them on a regular basis should call Chief Eric Williams or Police Chaplain the Rev. Harold Jackson. Chief Williams or Rev. Jackson can be reached at 355-5435 or come by the police department and leave your name, phone number, and address.

Senior Bingo† -The senior citizens of Lane invite any senior citizen to join them every first and third Tuesday at Lane Recreation Center on Broomstraw Rd. for “Senior Bingo.”

Health Screening - The Nursing Department of Francis Marion University has been approved to provide free health screenings every Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Felician Center located at 1000 Thorne Avenue, Kingstree. Sugar testing, vision testing etc. will be provided free of charge. In addition, a licensed nurse will be available to assist individuals with some health planning on a regular basis.

Child Screenings† -Williamsburg County School District Office of Special Services, located at 500 North Academy Street, Kingstree, (843) 355-5533, will hold child find screenings each month.

Program† - Through The Storm Outreach, Inc., a Maternity Group Home located in Kingstree, has beds available for youth ages 16 to 22. They will come pick the youth up from your facility and intake them into their program for up to 540 days. There are five beds available for pregnant and parenting girls. Yoga Classes† -Regular yoga classes for beginners and Chair yoga classes are offered at the St. Alban's Episcopal Church Parrish Hall at 305 Hampton Ave., Kingstree. Please use the door at the hall that does not face Hampton Ave. on the left side. The classes are open to a diverse population and require no experience with yoga. Pageant - Mary's Angels, a nonprofit 501(C)3, cordially invites Williamsburg County youth to participate in this year's county pageant.† The county pageant, officially part of the Miss America Organization, will be held Friday, June 13, at Williamsburg County Complex, 147 W. Main Street Kingstree. This year's theme is “Flawless.” Applications for the event can be found at Williamsburg County schools and local beauty and barber shops. Dance - Williamsburg County Library will host Expressions of Culture Dance Ministries by Domonique, South Carolina Non-Profit Organization 501© 3 in collaboration with KGES JAG Dance team. Play -Disney's “The Aristocats Kids” will be at the Blanding Street Theatre, 125 S. Blanding Street, Lake City. Shows are June 20, at 7:30 p.m., June 21, at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. and June 22, at 3 p.m. Tickets will be on sale at the door of the theatre one hour before each production or from any cast member. Youth from many schools in the area are participating.

Meeting - Waccamaw Economic Opportunity Council, Inc. Administrative Office located at 1261 Highway 501 East, Suite B, Conway and its programs, head start, early head start, weatherization, and community services for Horry, Georgetown, and Williamsburg counties, will be closed on Monday, May 26, for the Memorial Day Holiday and will reopen on Tuesday, May 27.

Blood Drive - The American Red Cross will sponsor blood drives on Monday, June 30, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 1760 Muddy Creek Rd., from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Wednesday, June 11, at Santee Electric Cooperative, 424 Sumter Highway.

Career Days - Williamsburg County EMD/E-911/CERT will host a two part career fair days. Part 1 will be held Saturday, May 31, Hire Me! Preparation from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at EOC Room of the EMD Bldg., 2086 Thurgood Marshall Highway, behind the Short Term Recovery Center. The event includes interview stations, attire/technique, resume templates, and job search/computers. Part 2 will be held Saturday, June 14, Hire Me! Career Fair from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.† The perspective employers include Carolinas Hospital System, Home Depot, IGA, Inc., etc.

Camp -The annual Coker College Skills & Drills Summer Baseball Camp will be held June 16 to June 20, at Tom J. New Field. The five sessions will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. The camp will be devoted to pitching, hitting, bunting, and base running. The camp is open to players ages six to 17. Yard Sale - A yard sale, sponsored by Eugene 137 Order of Eastern Star, will be held Saturday, June 7, at the Kingstree Masonic Lodge, 313 E. Main St., Kingstree. The proceeds from the yard sale will go to Peggy Barwick, because she recently had a burnout.

Enterprise Learning -A Passport to Excellence Family Conference will be held at Kingstree Middle School, 616 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave.† Friday, May 30, at 6 p.m. panel, discussion and banquet and† Saturday May 31, at 9 a.m. adult and youth workshops. The event is sponsored by Williamsburg County School District office of Parenting, 21st Century Community Learning Center and AVID Academic Assistant Program. Head Start Applications - Waccamaw EOC, Inc. Head Start/Early Head Start, a federally-funded comprehensive preschool program, is currently accepting applications for the 2014-2015 school year. Head start provides services for children three and four years of age residing in Williamsburg County. Early head start provides services for infants and toddlers ages six weeks - under 36 months and Expectant Families.The program is at no cost to families.
