Hemingway High School names Teacher and Staff Member of the Year

Donna Palmer Lewis


Hemingway High School has selected Mrs. Donna Palmer Lewis as the 2014-2015 Teacher of the Year and Mrs. Rontrecia Hannah Platt as the 2014-2015 Staff Member of the Year.

Donna Palmer Lewis is a 22-year veteran educator of public schools throughout South Carolina. She is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of South Carolina State University, with further studies and degree attainment from Winthrop University, Columbia College and Converse College. She also has an Educational Specialist Degree from The University of South Carolina.

As an active member of the community, Mrs. Lewis also is an adjunct professor at Florence-Darlington and Williamsburg Technical Colleges. She currently is a doctoral candidate at the University of Phoenix.

Rontrecia Hannah Platt is a native of Johnsonville. She graduated from Hemingway High School in 1989 and Williamsburg Technical College in 1996 with an Associate’s Degree in Office System Technology. She is currently working on a Bachelor’s Degree in General Business from Limestone College. Mrs. Platt is currently employed by Hemingway High School as the PowerSchool Operator and J.V. Girls’ Basketball Coach, and serves on numerous school committees, including the graduation, coronation, prom, homecoming, and Scholars’ Night committees. In addition, Mrs. Platt serves as the attendance clerk at Hemingway M.B. Lee Middle School as well as the area bus supervisor for the Hemingway Area Schools. She has been employed by the Williamsburg County School District since 1989.

Both of these individuals have positively contributed to the success of Hemingway High School and will represent the school well in these positions.
