Law enforcement conducts countywide warrant roundup

Local and state law enforcement agencies descended on Williamsburg County Tuesday to conduct a narcotics warrant roundup in.

The roundup began on May 13, around 1:30 in the afternoon. At one point the downtown area of Kingstree was flooded with law enforcement personnel while a state law enforcement agency helicopter hovered above.

Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office, along with South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and Florence County Sheriff’s Department personnel arrested 12 people on 16 outstanding narcotics warrants. Three additional people were arrested on new narcotic violations. The charges were for Distribution of Cocaine, Cocaine Base, and Heroin Traffincking Cocaine Base, Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of Cocaine Base and Simple Possession Marijuana.

This was a result of a two year long investigation by the Williamsburg County and the State Law Enforcement Division. Williamsburg County Sheriff John Bartell said the investigation is ongoing.

Complete details on the arrests were not available at press time.
