Citizens participate in National Day of Prayer

Bringing together a nation in simultaneous prayer would seem an unfathomable task; however, the opportunity is achieved each year as citizens across the country acknowledge the unity of God’s people during National Day of Prayer. For the May 1, observance Anne Graham Lotz, the 2014 honorary chairman, wrote a prayer that was simultaneously read throughout the nation at noon.  Dozens of Williamsburg County citizens participated in the 63rd National Day of Prayer that was held on the Williamsburg County Courthouse grounds. Each year county government hosts the observance.

Prayers were led by many guest speakers that included the Rev. Harry Montgomery, Biblical Christian, Bishop Linwood Cooper, St. Mark/Trinity Believers Holiness and the Rev. Joe Blackwelder, Kingstree United Methodist Church. WC Juvenile Justice Specialist Vernessa Felix led prayer for children. Brittany Gause and Josh Herndon led songs of praise. The Rev. Phyllis Underwood, Life Center Pentecostal Holiness Church, led spiritual awaking.
