Joseph Brown, Greeleyville - Funeral services for Joseph Brown, conducted by the Rev. Philip Boyd, were held Friday, April 4, 2014, at St. John Missionary Baptist Church of Greeleyville. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at St. John Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery of Greeleyville. Mr. Brown died Sunday, March 30, 2014. He was born September 4, 1926, in Williamsburg County, the son of the late Aaron, Sr. and Carrie Brown. He received his formal education in the public school system of Williamsburg County. He was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in the Snowhill Community of Greeleyville, where he served as a member of the Trustee Board and Father of the Church. He devoted 30 plus years of service to the railroad system, Seaboard Coast Railroad. He was married to the late Carrie Keels Brown. A daughter in 1948; his brothers, James Brown, Eugene Brown, Aaron Brown and Sammie Brown; and one sister, Clara Chatman, preceded him in death.Survivors are: one daughter, Patricia Gamble of Greeleyville; three sons, Willie Montgomery of Salters; Joe Gary Scott of Kingstree; and Dexter McCrea (Kaisha) of Richmond, Virginia; three siblings, Jessie Brown (Lizzie), Carrie McFadden, and Ester Green (Mack); an adopted sister, Mary Giles; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
