Levi Battle, Kingstree - Funeral services for Levi Boyd Battle, conducted by the Rev. James C. Lane, were held Saturday, April 12, 2014, at St. Paul United Methodist Church of Kingstree. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at St. Paul United Methodist Church Cemetery of Kingstree.Mr. Battle died Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Williamsburg Regional Hospital of Kingstree. He was born February 16, 1933, in Williamsburg County, the son of the late Ludie Boyd Battle and Woodrow Battle. He attended St. Paul School and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. He worked on the farm for many years in Williamsburg County. He then moved to Nyack, New York, where he was employed with Levine’s Furniture Store and the Hub Bowling Alley. He later moved to Spring Valley, New York. There he started his own landscaping business.Survivors are: three daughters, Debra Boyd Edauard and Julia Boyd Pinkney, both of Kingstree; and Joyce Brooks of Rochester, New York; one son, Emary Singletary of Florence; one brother, Freddie Battle (Lillie) of Kingstree; five sisters, Lottie Mae McCullough, Francis Giles and Ella Scott (Linen), all of Kingstree; Pauline Cunningham of Florence; and one that he took in as a daughter, Mrs. Clara Childers of Florence; one step-sister, Carol Wilson of Kingstree; two grandsons he reared as his own, Robert L. Anderson, Jr., and Ralph Shamar Damor, both of Kingstree; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
