Arthur Higgins, Turbeville - Funeral services for Arthur Lee “Strongman” Higgins, conducted by the Rev. Lovette Cabbagesterd, were held Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Clauddie Henryhand Memorial Chapel of Kingstree. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at St. John Methodist Church Cemetery of Lynchburg.Mr. Higgins died Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at his residence in Turbeville. He was born September 25, 1948, in Eastover, the son of the late Walsh Higgins and Bertha Williams Higgins. He received his formal education in the public schools of Richland County. He was married to the late Mrs. Rebecca Laws Higgins. He was a member of St. John Methodist Church. He was employed with Newman Construction Company of Sumter. Eight siblings, Howard Higgins, John Higgins, William Higgins, James Higgins, Jr., Nora Lee H. Kennedy, Essie Mae Higgins Ham, Louise H. Kennedy and Bertha Mae Higgins, preceded him in death. Survivors are: one sister, Rebecca Higgins of Olanta; and a niece.
