Many Williamsburg County officials and Williamsburg County Council members attended the ceremonial ribbon cutting and spoke to the senior citizens present at the facility.

For many years, the Hemingway Wellness Center was located at the J.J. Mitcheom Center. Due to increased public use of this facility, the agency needed to find a new location.

Vital Aging Executive Director Robert Welch said thanks to the leadership of Williamsburg County Government, Vital Aging has now entered a partnership for the new Hemingway Wellness Center at the Chavis One Stop Complex.

"This new facility provides a permanent location and expanded services and activities for seniors, "said Welch. "Vital Aging sincerely thanks the elected officials, donors and volunteers who worked tirelessly to make this project a reality for our senior participants."

The event included remarks by Tony Kester, Director of the Lt. Governor's Office on Aging and Williamsburg County Supervisor Stanley Pasley.
