Robert Arnette, Sr. Columbia  - Robert Lawton Arnette, Sr., 79, widower of "Dottie" Dunford Arnette, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at his home in Columbia.
A memorial service was held Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Kingstree United Methodist Church, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mr. Arnette was born August 5, 1934, in Kingstree, the son of the late Victor Lawton Arnette and Ruth Fitch Arnette. He was a graduate of Lake City High School, attended Furman, and was a graduate of the University of South Carolina. He received his Master's Degree from LSU. He was a US Army veteran and was the retired president of The Exchange Bank of Kingstree. He was a former member of the Kingstree Rotary Club and the Williamsburg Academy Board of Directors, and was a former adjunct professor at Williamsburg Technical College. He was a member of Belin United Methodist Church and was a former member of Kingstree United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday school for many years. Survivors are: two sons, Robert L. "Rob" Arnette, Jr. (Myra) of Sumter; and Jim Arnette (Christy) of Surfside Beach; one daughter, D. Marianne Arnette of Columbia; one sister, Doris A. Evans of Timmonsville; and three grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 3101 Industrial Drive, Suite 210, Raleigh, NC 27609.
