The Williamsburg County Public School Foundation celebrated its third annual Hall of Fame Induction Gala with special guest appearances and a few surprises. The March 28, event held at the Kingstree Senior High School Gymnasium and hosted by WCSC TV 5 Anchor Ann McGill and her husband Gregory, honored five district alumni and others who have made outstanding contributions to the school district, their profession, the community and society.

While the affair saluted those who lives have made a difference, the gala's primary purpose is to secure donations to distribute in the form of scholarships to eligible graduating seniors. The foundation, which is a nonprofit, also provides support of the district's long-range facilities plan and assists in funding onsite development programs among other functions. Proceeds from the gala enabled the foundation to award scholarships totaling over $9,000 to 23 graduates during the first distribution period.

The inductees were; Dr. Samuel M. Davis, assistant professor of orthopedic and spine surgery; Coach John McKissick, Summerville High School Head Coach; Edwin Pasley (posthumously), humanitarian, community leader and volunteer; Dr. Veronica Scott-Fulton, Wolfson Children's Hospital VP of Operations and Patient Care Services; and US Marshal Kelvin Washington, United States Marshal for District of South Carolina.
Attendants enjoyed music performance by the Claflin University Concert Choir.

A pair of special presentations capped the evening.  A donation was presented on behalf of the Jim Fitts Scholarship Fund as well as a donation presented by the family of the late Sonya Burgess on behalf of the Sonya Burgess Scholarship Fund.
