Daisy Washington-Wilson, Salters - Mrs. Daisy B. "Mother Daisy" or "Big Momma" Washington-Wilson died Friday, March 21, 2014, at Carolinas Hospital System of Florence. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Clemon L. Grant, were held Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Central Missionary Baptist Church of Salters. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed in Salters.
Mrs. Washington-Wilson was born May 22, 1928, in Williamsburg County, the daughter of the late David Washington and Sadie Gordon Washington Harvin. Her husband, Emmanuel Wilson, and five children, John Henry, David, Vincent, Mary Frances and "Little Sister", preceded her in death. She attended the public schools of Williamsburg County. She was a farmer. She was a member of Central Missionary Baptist Church. She was affiliated with the Usher Board, Senior Choir, Kitchen Committee, and she was the "Mother of the Church."
Survivors are: three sons: Marion Washington (Debbie) of Adelphi, Maryland; Willie L. Brown of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Johnnie L. Wilson of Atlanta, Georgia; six daughters, Evangelist Geraldine Singleton of Sumter; Mrs. Lula Mae Manning and Mrs. Daisy M. Grate (Christopher), both of Salters; Mrs. Joanne Woodard (Ruffin) of Hyattsville, Maryland; Mrs. Verline Burgess (Danny) of Lane; and Brenda Brown (Robert Greene) of Kingstree; one sister, Mrs. Inetta Shedrick (Squire) of Salters; 33 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
