Several arrests made involving recent crimes

Two suspects are in custody and police have issued warrants on others in connection to a February 28, robbery that occurred at Gamble's Liquor Store on Main Street in Kingstree. Desmond Tymon Cooper, 25 and Bobby Lamont Burgess, 37, both of Kingstree have been charged with burglary/breaking and entering. 

According to incident reports, police arrived at the liquor store to find a glass door shattered. Inside the business was in disarray with tables turned over and bottles smashed on the floor. Tips would led police to a residence whereupon a consensual search of the residence revealed evidence that was identified as inventory from the store. Other tips provided police with leads that ended in the arrests.

Approximately $2,000 worth in liquor was taken from the store and the building sustained approximately $1,000 in damages. According to investigators, Cooper and Burgess made statements to police regarding their involvement in the crime. Both remain incarcerated at the Williamsburg County Detention Center. The investigation remains open as police have issued warrants for additional suspects. Anyone with information regarding this crime can call the Kingstree Police Department at (843) 355-5435. A Kingstree man has been charged with armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Kingstree Police arrested Keith Greene on March 2. According to police incident report, two females had left a residence in the early morning hours when a suspect wearing a mask partially covering his face and wielding a handgun approached the victims and demanded one victim hand over her purse.

The victims identified Greene by some of the items he was wearing and recognition of his voice that they claim was at the same residence they were the evening prior to the crime. A description of the clothing Greene was alleged to have been wearing at the time of the robbery was also dispatched to local law enforcement. Based on the information provided, a Williamsburg County Sheriff's deputy identified Greene as he entered his residence.

Kingstree Police have a suspect in custody after a near three-month investigation into an armed robbery at a local gas station. Schain Leon McCrea, 38 of Lake City has been charged with armed robbery in connection to a January 9, robbery that occurred at the Kings Express on Longstreet Street.

According to a police report, an armed suspect robbed the cashier at knife point. During a struggle McCrea is alleged to have tried repeatedly to stab the victim where the victim sustained a minor cut on her leg.
