Seniors Patrol - The Kingstree Police Department is offering a seniors patrol wellness check. Any elderly, ill or bedridden residents of the Town of Kingstree who would like for the police department to contact them on a regular basis should call Chief Eric Williams or Police Chaplain the Rev. Harold Jackson. Chief Williams or Rev. Jackson can be reached at 355-5435 or come by the police department and leave your name, phone number, and address.

Senior Bingo - The senior citizens of Lane invite any senior citizen to join them every first and third Tuesday at Lane Recreation Center on Broomstraw Rd. for "Senior Bingo."

Weight Watchers- Weight Watchers 2013 meetings will be held at the First Baptist Church of Kingstree. Classes are on Thursdays at 5 p.m.

Child Screenings - Williamsburg County School District Office of Special Ser-vices, located at 500 North Academy Street, Kingstree, (843) 355-5533, will hold child find screenings each month.

Housing Authority - The Housing Authority of Kingstree will meet every third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at 1022 Lexington Ave., Kingstree.

Program - Through The Storm Outreach, Inc., a Maternity Group Home located in Kingstree, has beds available for youth ages 16 to 22. They will come pick the youth up from your facility and intake them into their program for up to 540 days. There are five beds available for pregnant and parenting girls. Nominations - South Carolina African American Heritage Commission (SCAAHC) will present the Preserving Our Places In History awards on March 28, 2014, at the South Carolina Archives & History Center of Columbia. The mission of the SCAAHC is to identify and promote the preservation of historic sites, structures, buildings, and culture of the African American experience in South Carolina and to assist and enhance the efforts of the South Carolina Department of Archives & History. The award categories are individual award, group or organization award, project award, and lifetime achievement award. The deadline for nominations will be January 31, 2014. All nominees will be notified by March 14, 2014.

Yoga Classes - Regular yoga classes for beginners and Chair yoga classes are offered at the St. Alban's Episcopal Church Parrish Hall at 305 Hampton Ave., Kingstree. Please use the door at the hall that does not face Hampton Ave. on the left side.

Assistance - Williamsburg County First Steps Office will be opened to assist the public in completing their 2013 Federal and State Income Tax Returns starting on January 31 through April 15, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This service is free to the public with an AGI of $95,000 for married clients who choose to file a joint return, and $65,000 for all other clients. Please bring the following items with you to file your taxes: government issued ID; social security number(s); w2's; 1099's, 1098's; last year's tax return (if available); information about other income; and deduction and credit info. Health Screening - The Nursing Department of Francis Marion University has been approved to provide free health screenings every Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Felician Center located at 1000 Thorne Avenue, Kingstree. Sugar testing, vision testing etc. will be provided free of charge. In addition, a licensed nurse will be available to assist individuals with some health planning on a regular basis.

Pageant - Mary's Angels, a nonprofit 501(C)3 cordially invite Williamsburg County youth to participate in this years county pageant. The County Pageant officially part of the Miss America Organization will be held Friday June 13, at Williamsburg County Complex located 147 W. Main Street Kingstree. This year's theme is "Flawless." Application for the event can be found at Williamsburg County schools and local beauty and barber shops. Females must be between the age 13-21 and a resident of the county. Applications - Waccamaw EOC is now accepting names/applications for the 2014 Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Applications are taken by appointment only Monday through Thursday. Testing - The Spring HSAP Test will be administered to high schools students in Williams-burg County School District from April 1 to April 3.

Golf Tourney - Kingstree Masonic Lodge will be having its second annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, March 29. Shotgun start at 9 a.m. at Swamp Fox Golf Club in Kingstree. Golf Tournament - Stallion Invitational Golf Tournament will be held Friday, April 11, at 8:30 a.m. at Swamp Fox Country Club. Deadline for entry is April 9.

Sign Up - Alumni football is coming to Kingstree. Gridiron Alumni is planning several full contact alumni football games. Gridiron Alumni travels the nation pitting old football rivals against each other one more time. Players can sign up for their alma mater and the first 40 players on each team get to play. Workshop - Do you know someone with a learning disability or ADHD that wants to go to college? Meeting - Two Recovering Couples Anonymous groups will be offered beginning the first week of March. On Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. a classic RCA Share Meeting, will be offered. Both meetings will be located at Inlet Oasis, 4450 Hwy. 17 ByPass, Suite D-5 in the Woodside Village Mall near the Festiva offices on the south side of the mall. Easter Egg Drop - Kingstree First Assembly will host its fourth annual Easter Egg Drop on Saturday, April 19. The event is free and is open to the public. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m., and the eggs will drop from the helicopter at 11 a.m. This year there will be 20,000 eggs, GIANT inflatables, and a concession stand. In addition, there will be a visit from the Easter Bunny.

Program - On Tuesday, April 10, Tidelands Community Hospice, in cooperation with Georgetown Memorial Hospital, will host the Hospice Foundation of America's 21st annual Living With Grief Program entitled "Helping Adolescents Cope with Loss." The event will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Georgetown Memorial Hospital Education Center Conference Room. Walk - On April 5, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the Florence County Court House, 180 N. Irby St., Florence, Pee Dee Coalition and Durant Children's Center will host, "Walk the Walk," a walk to bring awareness to the public about sexual assault and child abuse. :This event is free and open to the public. Auditions - The board of the Lake City Community Theatre has chosen Disney's The Aristocats Kids for their third all youth production. Auditions are for ages eight (must be eight years old by the day of the auditions) through age 18. Walk-A-Thon - March is Disabilities Awareness Month and Williamsburg County Disabilities and Special Needs Board will be sponsoring their annual walk-a-thon on Friday, March 28. The walk will begin in front of the Williamsburg County Courthouse at 9:30 a.m. and end at 61 Greenlee Street, Kingstree.  The guest speaker will be Beverly Buscemi, Ph. D. State Director for SCDDSN Board.

Filing - Planning on filing as a candidate in the upcoming June 10, Primary Election. The filing will take place at the County Election Commission Office located at 203-B N. Brooks Street, Kingstree. You may also call Election Commission Office at (843) 355-2181 for questions you may have.  Filing deadline is Sunday, March 30, at 12 p.m.
