Over a thousand honorees and guests attended the 28th annual HSSR Football Awards banquet at Seawell's in Columbia. Joe Moglia, head football coach at Coastal Carolina, served as keynote speaker for South Carolina's largest all-state banquet.
The Williamsburg Academy Stallions football players and coaches walked away with many honors. Senior, Robbie Heathcott and junior, Tripp Ward, who are also first cousins, were named SCISA A Co-Players of the Year
Seniors, Brandon Fennell and Jack Kellahan, and juniors, Harry Easler and Justin McCrea, were selected to the SCISA Class A All-State team and sophomore Luke Fennell was named to the HSSR All-Rookie team for 2013.
The Stallions captured their first ever SCISA Class A state title in November, with a 26-13 win over Colleton Prep. “It was a very special season and these young men are very deserving of the awards they received,” said Coach Ken Kellahan.
Coach Kellahan was named SCISA Class 1A Coach of the Year, as well as the Region 1-A Coach of the Year. Kellahan is a WA graduate and former all-state quarterback. Defensive Coordinator Steve Corey was tabbed as the HSSR SCISA Statewide Assistant Coach of the Year.
