Luther Shuman, Jr., Kingstree - The Rev. Luther Jarvin Shuman, Jr., 99, husband of Evelyn Duke Shuman, died Friday, February 28, 2014, at his residence.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at Kingstree Memorial Gardens. Rev. Shuman was born February 3, 1915, in Vidalia, Georgia, the son of the late Luther J. Shuman, Sr. and Mary Alice Stewart Shuman. He was a graduate of Statesboro High School and The Baptist Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. He was a retired Baptist minister, having served as pastor of numerous churches; his last church was Union Crossroads Baptist Church. His first wife, Meda C. Shuman, three daughters, Mary Shuman, Meda Branton and Judy Pate, and four siblings, preceded him in death.  

Survivors, in addition to his wife of Kingstree, are: three stepdaughters, Rose Marie Jarrett (Gary) of Kingstree; Gwen Martin of Cades; and Maxine Floyd of Lake City; four granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
