James Willie Thompson, 82, widower of Mary “Polly” Johnson Thompson, died Sunday, February 2, 2014, at Williamsburg Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, with full military honors, followed at Kingstree Memorial Gardens, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mr. Thompson was born May 5, 1931, the son of the late James O’Dell Thompson and Emma Malone Thompson. He was a retired US Army veteran, having served in the Special Forces. He retired from Boddie-Noel Enterprises. Survivors are: three children, Pam Pittman (Rick) of Raeford, North Carolina; Phyllis (Geoff) Lifrage and “Buster” (Linda) Thompson, both of Kingstree; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
