Wallace Joyce, Lake City

Wallace Speas Joyce, 65, husband of Helen Rodgers Joyce, and formerly of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, died Sunday, January 26, 2014, at Carolinas Hospital System of Florence. Memorial services were held Friday, January 31, 2014, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel of Scranton. A second memorial service was held Sunday, February 2, 2014, at Mizpah-Moravian Church of Rural Hall, North Carolina. Mr. Joyce was born January 27, 1948, in Forsyth County, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, the son of the late Wallace Kermit Joyce and Mary Virginia Speas Joyce. He was a graduate of North Forsyth High School and attended Forsyth Community College.  He was a tobacconist for many years in the Winston-Salem area, a men’s clothier with Joyce & Royal of Winston-Salem and formerly in Wal-Mart Receiving Department and then a “Loss Prevention Greeter” for Wal-Mart of Lake City.  He was a member of Mizpah-Moravian Church, former Booster Club President of Forbush High School, Yadkin County, North Carolina. Two children, Amy Joyce and Lee Joyce, preceded him in death. Survivors are: his wife, Helen Rodgers Joyce of the home in Lake City; one son, Rod Joyce (Heather Graham) of Yadkinville, North Carolina; one daughter, Mary Joyce-Hale of Yadkinville, North Carolina; one sister, Jenny Lynn Preacher (Dickey) of Kingstree; and two grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Mizpah-Moravian Church Building Fund, 3195 Mizpah Church Road, Rural Hall, NC 27045.
