Marguerite Cook, Kingstree

Marguerite “Retesie” Chandler Cook, 66, of Kingstree, died Thursday, January 16, 2014, at Roper Hospital of Charleston. Funeral services were held Monday, January 20, 2014, at Indiantown Presbyterian Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, followed at the church cemetery. Mrs. Cook was born February 13, 1947, in Hemingway, and grew up in the Stuckey community. She was the daughter of Mrs. Sara Cook Chandler and the late Fred Davis “Doc” Chandler. She graduated from Indiantown High School and attended Palmer Business College in Columbia. She was a bookkeeper with Santee Electric Cooperative of Kingstree and retired after 33 years of service. She was a member of Kingstree First Baptist Church. She was married to the late Ronald H. Cook. Survivors, in addition to her mother of Stuckey, are: one son, Chandler “Chad” Frierson (Natalie) of Mt. Pleasant; one brother, Davis “Spud” Chandler (Yvonne) of Johnsonville; a Goddaughter, Gabrielle Wingate of Kingstree; and one grandson.
