Funeral services for Willie Wilson, conducted by the Rev. James C. Lane, were held Friday, January 17, 2014, at St. Paul United Methodist Church of Kingstree. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at St. Paul United Methodist Church Cemetery of Kingstree. Mr. Wilson died Sunday, January 12, 2014. He was born July 6, 1931, the son of the late William and Annie L. Wilson. He served his country by entering the US Army in 1951. He received an Honorable Discharge in July 1953. He moved to New York. He worked for the Allen Christian School of Jamaica, New York, until his retirement in 1996. He returned to Kingstree in 1996. Survivors are: his wife, Mary Wilson of Kingstree; four daughters, Deloris Wilson and Venus R. Wilson, both of Brooklyn, New York; Sheldon “Shelley” Wilson Howard (Oscar) of Virginia; and Deirdre Wilson Gray (Anthony) of Queens, New York; eight siblings, Lillie B. Broughton of New York, New York; Moses Wilson (Flora) of Columbia; Alice W. Mitchum (Willie) and Julie W. Gibson (Bossie), both of Kingstree; Rochelle W. Benbow (Henry) of Lane; Ethel Haven (Dennis) and William Wilson (Elaine), both of Uniondale, New York; and LaVern Wilson of Bronx, New York; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
