Funeral services for Eddie “Dock” Green, conducted by the Rev. Robert McCutchen, Jr., were held Friday, January 17, 2014, at Clauddie Henryhand Memorial Chapel of Kingstree. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Porter-Ferrell Cemetery of Kingstree. Mr. Green died Thursday, January 10, 2014. He was born April 6, 1932, in Salters, the son of the late Minder James. He attended the public schools of Williamsburg County. At an early age, he had to leave school to work on the farm. He also worked in Coco Beach Florida and then returned to farming in the spring. In 1963, his mother and grandparents stopped farming. He then moved to Washington, DC seeking work. He was a construction worker for many years, where he retired in 1991. Survivors are: his wife, Carrie Green of Glen Arden, Maryland; 11 children, Edmond Green of Glen Arden, Maryland; Mindy Green of Houston, Texas; Barbara Stretch of Charleston; Eddie Gamble of Baltimore, Maryland; Isaac Gamble, Leroy Gamble, Charles Gamble, and Chester Gamble, all of Suitland, Maryland; Shirley Gamble, Gail Gamble and Phillip Gamble, all of Washington, DC; 30 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
