Harold Jackson. Chief Williams or Rev. Jackson can be reached at 355-5435 or come by the police department and leave your name, phone number, and address.   TOPS - Taking Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) Weight Program will meet on Thursdays at 9:15 a.m. at Ina Miles Store. For more information contact Lillie Jean at (843) 355-3002 or Ann at (843) 382-9696.   Senior Bingo - The senior citizens of Lane invite any senior citizen to join them every first and third Tuesday at Lane Recreation Center on Broomstraw Rd. for “Senior Bingo.”   Weight Watchers- Weight Watchers 2013 meetings will be held at the First Baptist Church of Kingstree. Classes are on Thursdays at 5 p.m.   Child Screenings - Williamsburg County School District Office of Special Ser-vices, located at 500 North Academy Street, Kingstree, (843) 355-5533, will hold child find screenings each month.   Housing Authority - The Housing Authority of Kingstree will meet every third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at 1022 Lexington Ave., Kingstree.   Banquet - The Tomlinson Alumni Committee, Inc. will sponsor a banquet honoring outstanding student who attended the school prior to 1955. This will be the first class of “Hall of Fame Honorees.” This event is scheduled for Saturday, March 22, 2014, 5 p.m. at the Williamsburg County Recreation Complex Gym, Thurgood Marshall Highway, Kingstree. Funds will benefit the building project, The Tomlinson Resource and Fine Arts Center. Tickets may be purchased from members of the committee. Program - Through The Storm Outreach, Inc., a Maternity Group Home located in Kingstree, has beds available for youth ages 16 to 22. They will come pick the youth up from your facility and intake them into their program for up to 540 days. There are five beds available for pregnant and parenting girls. You may also visit the website for more information at www.ttsoutreach.org.   Nominations - South Carolina African American Heritage Commission (SCAAHC) will present the Preserving Our Places In History awards on March 28, 2014, at the South Carolina Archives & History Center of Columbia. The mission of the SCAAHC is to identify and promote the preservation of historic sites, structures, buildings, and culture of the African American experience in South Carolina and to assist and enhance the efforts of the South Carolina Department of Archives & History. The award categories are individual award, group or organization award, project award, and lifetime achievement award. The deadline for nominations will be January 31, 2014. All nominees will be notified by March 14, 2014.   Yoga Classes - Regular yoga classes for beginners and Chair yoga classes are offered at the St. Alban’s Episcopal Church Parrish Hall at 305 Hampton Ave., Kingstree. Please use the door at the hall that does not face Hampton Ave. on the left side. The classes are open to a diverse population and require no experience with yoga. More challenging postures and sequences are occasionally offered. The library is located at 306 North Main Street, Hemingway.   Meeting - AARP Williamsburg County Chapter 5630 monthly meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 22, at 12 p.m. at the Williamsburg County Recreation Complex, located 2084 Thurgood Marshall Hwy., Kingstree. For more information contact Mrs. Chambers at (843) 426-4601.   Applications - Williamsburg County Magnet School of the Arts, a visual and performing arts elementary school, is now accepting applications for the 2014-2015 school year.  Students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade may audition in the following areas: Instrumental ensemble, piano, strings, vocal ensemble, dance, drama, visual art, or creative writing. Applications are located on-line or at the Williamsburg County Magnet School of the Arts.  Applications must be completed by a parent or legal guardian and received by Friday, January 24.   Meeting - The Williamsburg County Awareness Program monthly meeting is schedule for Thursday, January 23, 6 p.m. at Siloam Baptist Church, 200 Madison Avenue, Kingstree, The meeting is open to the public and citizens are encouraged to join the organization.   Meeting - Williamsburg County DSN Board will be having their monthly board meeting on Wednesday, January 22, at 4 p.m. at Williamsburg County Disabilities and Special Needs Board, 61 Greenlee Street, Kingstree.   Assistance - Williamsburg County First Steps Office will be opened to assist the public in completing their 2013 Federal and State Income Tax Returns starting on January 31 through April 15, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This service is free to the public with an AGI of $95,000 for married clients who choose to file a joint return, and $65,000 for all other clients. Please bring the following items with you to file your taxes: government issued ID; social security number(s); w2’s; 1099’s, 1098’s; last year’s tax return (if available); information about other income; and deduction and credit info.
