Barbara “Miss Barbara” Lifrage Tomlinson, 81, wife of Samuel J. “Sammy” Tomlinson, died Wednesday January 15, 2014. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 18, 2014, at Kingstree Presbyterian Church. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at Kingstree Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Tomlinson was born March 31, 1932, in Salters, the daughter of the late Julius G. Lifrage and Mayme Blakely Lifrage. She was the valedictorian of her graduating class at Kingstree High School and served as secretary of the SC Synod of the Presbyterian Youth Fellowship. She attended Flora McDonald College and received a Masters of Education Degree from USC. She was a retired elementary school teacher. She was a member of the Margaret Gregg Gordon Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of Kingstree Presbyterian Church. Survivors, in addition to her husband of Kingstree, are: four sons, Samuel T. Tomlinson, II (Anne) and J. Russell Tomlinson (Jane), both of Columbia; and David J. Tomlinson (Susan) and Jonathan E. Tomlinson (Alice), both of Kingstree; one daughter, Mayme T. Carsten (Will) of Cades; one sister, Roberta L. Shepard of Charleston; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
