Ruth Bessinger Boatwright, 89, widow of Ezekiel Owen “Zeke” Boatwright, Jr., died Thursday, January 16, 2014, at McLeod Regional Medical Center of Florence. Funeral services were held Sunday, January 19, 2014, in the chapel of Williamsburg Funeral Home. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at Elmwood Cemetery of Georgetown. Mrs. Boatwright was born June 28, 1924, in Bamberg, the daughter of the late Charles LeRoy and Inez Hightower Bessinger. She was retired from Drucker Drugs of Kingstree and was a member of Kingstree United Methodist Church. Five siblings, LeRoy Bessinger, James Bessinger, Thelma Harrison, Mildred Hajeck, and Mamie Bass, preceded her in death. Survivors are: one son, Ashley Boatwright (Annette) of Manning; one daughter, Dr. Martha Boone (Jesse) of Roswell, Georgia; two sisters, Betty Bourne of West Columbia; and Demaris Bessinger of Bamberg; and four grandchildren.
