Funeral services for Mrs. Queen Easter Brunson Mitchum, conducted by the Rev. Sam Giles, were held Friday December 13, 2013, at Brown Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of Andrews. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Brown Chapel Missionary Baptist Churchyard Cemetery of Andrews. Mrs. Mitchum died Friday, December 6, 2013, at her residence. She was born March 28, 1948, in Georgetown County in the O’ Cedar Community, the daughter of the late David and Grace Miller Brunson. Five siblings, Gracie Dell, Josephine Danzy, Ernest Danzy, Jr., James Nelson and Clarence Brunson, preceded her in death. She received her formal education and graduated from Rose Mary High School in 1967. She was a member of Brown Chapel Missionary Baptist, where she served as Youth Sunday School Teacher, Secretary of the Church and a member and President of the Adult Choir. She worked in textile for several years. Survivors are: her husband, Pressley Mitchum of the home; three sons, Anthony Brunson (La’Kesha) of Winston Salem, North Carolina; Alex Brunson (LaToya) of Columbia; and Pressley Ashawn Mitchum of the home; four sisters, Eugene Maybank of Georgetown; Erlene Danzy and Loretta Brunson, both of Rochester, New York; and Lila Moyd of Andrews; two brothers, Daniel Brunson (Vivian) of Georgetown; and Glennie Brunson (Donna) of Andrews; a nephew raised as a brother, Vaniel Danzy of Winston Salem, North Carolina; and four grandchildren.
