Funeral services for Hazel Deloris Burroughs were held Thursday, December 12, 2013, at New Beginning Christian Church of Lane, directed by Henryhand Funeral Homes. Mrs. Burroughs died Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was born May 3, 1958, in Lane, the daughter of the late George Cooper, Sr., and Sennie Mae Cooper. She graduated from Williamsburg High School in June of 1976. She worked for Tupperware of Hemingway for 36 years. She received a number of awards for her outstanding work ethic and dedication. She was a member of New Beginning Christian Church of Lane, where she served as an Ordained Deaconess, Secretary of the Missionary Board, Secretary of the Gospel Choir and a Pastor’s Aide Member. She served as part of the Santee Social Club and Secretary of the Santee Suttons Community Park. Survivors are: her husband, Bryant Burroughs, Sr. of the home; one daughter, Kimberly Burroughs of Florence; two sons, Bryant Burroughs, Jr., of Andrews; and Cornelius Anton Burroughs (Brittani) of Kingstree; two sisters, Johnnie Mae Cooper of Lane; and Sandra Cheston (Sebastian) of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; four brothers, George Cooper, Jr. (Elsie) of Clinton, Maryland; Samuel Cooper, James Cooper (Odelle) and Randolph Cooper (Juanzena), all of Columbia; and three grandchildren.
